Sony Tablet S review op ThisIsMyNext:
I feel like I’m banging my head against a wall when working with Honeycomb tablets. Google released an OS that never felt completely finished, and it still lacks much in ease of use and cohesion. Little details like sometimes not being able to properly select text or the scattered layout of navigational items make it a generally more harrowing experience next to the iPad 2 or even the TouchPad. In Sony’s attempt to alter (or improve?) the experience of the OS, the company has simply made it more messy. I didn’t feel like I wanted to pick the device up and work with it — I felt like I wanted to avoid it.

Nee, dat heb ik niet verkeerd gekopieerd. Dat zeggen ze echt allebei.
Dus HTC en Samsung zijn blij dat in een markt waarin de concurrentie enorm is en elke millimeter voorsprong telt, een direct concurrent wordt opgekocht door het bedrijf waar ze hun hardware omheen bouwen…
Sinds gisteren kun je op Google+ ook spelletjes spelen. Google gaat daar geld mee verdienen door een deel van de omzet op “in-game purchases” op de eisen, ze vragen daar 5% voor.

Natuurlijk. Reken ik voor het gemak even dat van de 20 miljoen mensen die gekeken hebben naar Google+ (lees: een account gemaakt hebt) zo’n 10% er na een week nog naar kijkt. Van die mensen zal misschien weer 10% het leuk vinden om een spelletje te spelen. Van die mensen zal dan wellicht weer 10% (dat zou héél veel zijn) geld uitgeven aan spelletjes online.
Aanname op aanname op aanname, maar dat zijn 20.000 mensen. Ik denk inderdaad dat ze het in hun broek doen bij Facebook en Apple.
Oja, de 5% is tijdelijk. Het uiteindelijke percentage is nog niet bekend.

It’s on the software side of things where my concerns are starting to mount. Acer hasn’t done anything too drastic on top of Honeycomb 3.2 (there are a few added widgets and apps), but the tablet seems a tad sluggish when navigating in portrait mode and a number of apps keep crashing.
I was excited to take Android 3.2 for a spin on a 7-inch tab, but then the bugs came for it like spilled Kool-Aid at a picnic. I had a lot of force closes, which is never a good thing. Apps that should have worked, didn’t, and I encountered weird anomalies with programs misreading the accelerometer and/or the touch screen. There’s a lot of good in Honeycomb, but the glitches are casting a big shadow.
It’s worth noting that of the five randomly chosen tablet-optimized apps I loaded, only one didn’t give me one of Android’s fabled “Force Close” errors. This, coupled with my experience with the Kindle app, makes me wonder about Android 3.2’s stability.
